THEY CAN WHO BELIEVE!

THEY CAN WHO BELIEVE!

Those who believe they can, usually can. As a man thinks, so is he.

A sage said, you can have anything you want out of life, but not everything. This means we have to be specific and choose. It can be exhausting to be everywhere.

Have you ever watched someone succeed at a task and think if he could, then so can I?  Yes, indeed sometimes other people can persuade or inspire us to success. Suddenly the self-doubt fades and the fear is no longer crippling.

In Aesop’s Fables: Monkey Business, a monkey entertained fans from the roof of a house. The people were delighted at the monkey’s antics and applauded it. An ass wished to perform the same tricks as the monkey. (Who we keep company with does count after all and desire is such a powerful thing.) So the ass climbed up to the roof as well to perform. Instead, it broke several tiles which made the owner of the house furious. The owner sent it off in disgust while the servants beat it with a stick. Sad moment, right there.
Poor ass, feeling the pressure to perform! Was that a pun? I don’t know anymore.

We often have little patience for failure, not so?

While some might say, the ass should stick to what it knows best to do, nothing wrong in desiring to be a performer like the monkey, learning how to be one, and deciding the life it wanted, or is there?

They can who believe.
They can who believe

I remember entering for an audition for a role a long time ago. I didn’t like it.  A lot of time spent hanging about, waiting to get started. It felt interminable. I just couldn’t and never tried again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Sometimes, like the monkey, we are in our natural elements and soar at what we do. At other times, we may have to learn. Do we believe, know enough to make the right call and put in time for excellent results though?

Those who believe they can, usually can.

Ted is one of those who learned to believe and maybe you will enjoy his engaging story in THE SOUND OF SILENCE.

Another thought provoking piece… I love the cheeky humour in the article as well.

Thanks AG for churning this out every week.

Lovely read! Great job with the consistency.

Great. To be able to say l can, is to say ,come what may. In my comfort zone, it is easier and so l don’t explore anymore. Many more are like me l guess. But well, l admire those who step out inspite of the ridicule they face. Maybe, in my wildest thoughts, l can become a great mathematician. Hahahaha….
