Decide on the big idea to blog. This is an important step and may seem obvious. However, sometimes ideas are not always clear. At other times, they change, the more we learn.
The Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential has useful information to spark ideas. Also, consider using your interests and what you love learning about as a guide for what to blog about. Now, do not get too worried if you can’t decide on an idea. Sometimes, you have to get started to find your rhythm. Go ahead and be the blogster you dreamed of.

Get a name. The unique and memorable name for your online journal. Your own blogdom! Yay! Try for a dot com. Did I mention, the jury is still out on the assertion that this blog might be losing readers because it does not have a dotcom name? Next!

Give a thought to where to begin the blog. Blogger by Google is a free platform for beginning your blogging goals. It is free, easy to use, and a good tool to gain confidence and better understand the beginning stages of blogging.
Paid platforms are available as well. Namecheap’s managed WordPress is great. You can begin blogging within minutes.

Create an editorial calendar. A timetable of content if you will to help you publish consistently. Make it as simple or as complex as you need it to be. I like simple and used a PlanMaker. Okay! Not that stylish, maybe. But it helped.
Tools like Kanban and Zoho are some options. WordPress Editorial Calendar plugin is free.

You know, one gets better over time with planning and all when using an editorial calendar. For instance, I start with why, the topic/title of the post, due date, and phrases I want to use. I didn’t use to search for and add keywords like I do now. See, I got better with planning. Typically plan out your content for the year. Sure, a month – by – month plan works fine too.

Begin writing. Create, publish, promote. A smart goal for beginning blogging is to build your brand. So begin blogging.

Build your audience. Someone wisely shared to use the exact same words your clients use to describe their pain points when creating content. If they use ‘confused’ to describe a pain point, use the exact same word, not ‘perplexed’ in your content. This way, you attract them with your solution. Read testimonials and look out for these keywords.

Perhaps, you want to monetize your blog right away. That’s a good thing. I was just happy to blog and didn’t start building a mailing list early. Do build your mailing list. This is important if you want to increase your reach and earn. Hopefully, your learning curve to being a successful blogger isn’t very long now that you have read this post.

By the way, I hope you didn’t miss the alliteration within this post. Wink!
